It was really great to visit the remarkable Airbus in North Wales this month.
Airbus is the largest commercial aerospace company in the UK, as well as its biggest civil aerospace exporter.
It was fantastic to have the opportunity to watch all the stages of aeroplane wings being made and visit Airbus & Sheffield University’s Research & Development and Innovation Centre on-site.
It was also very interesting to hear about Airbus apprenticeships from apprentices themselves and hear about the incredible variety of jobs there. Airbus also offers incredible upskilling opportunities for its employers, which I have no doubt plays a part in its success.
A great visit, with lots to think about in terms of developing our apprenticeship offer across Wales, attracting businesses to Wales and more.
